Last Week was HARD

Writer: carolineswiftholdencarolineswiftholden

Last week was HARD.

I planned a trip to Minneapolis for some interviews. My bags were packed, my meetings scheduled, and I even had some buffer room on both ends of my trip, just in case.

Thank goodness for that buffer time.

Because a few hours before I left for my trip, I discovered that a loved one of mine was about to pass away in Wisconsin.

The whole week was a whirlwind.

I drove overnight to Wisconsin and back in 48 hours. I rescheduled half of my meetings in Minneapolis, and I was back on the plane on Friday to go to the funeral.

My brain was on autopilot, veering from needing to be my interview perfect perky self to literally grieving one of my favorite people I have ever met.

Luckily, many kind people were generous enough to help with the little things.

The rental car guy who got me a four wheel drive car for safer driving in the snow

The receptionist at my hotel who took twenty bucks off of my total fee after hearing I would only be staying for four hours and got breakfast ready early so that I could get to my destination in time

My friend who chatted with me on the phone all night to make sure I stayed awake while driving

Job hunting is HARD. Especially when life gets in the way.

I know I’m not the only one. If you’re job hunting AND dealing with life, hang in there and don’t be afraid to ask for help. You never know what help you’ll find if you don't ask.

We are all rooting for you.

Note: I wrote this post a couple of weeks ago and got too nervous to post it so it's actually from a few weeks ago but changing the title to "A few weeks ago was Hard" just didn't have the same ring to it. :) I hope you don't mind!
